Westview Elementary has been chosen by Indigo Love of Reading Foundation as one of their sponsor schools.

If you visit http://adoptaschool.indigo.ca/eng/schools/876 you can make a direct donation or click on the free option (Adopt this school) and for every time someone adopts Westview, the school receives free books!

41 books have already been donated!  We are trying to get to 215!

Outdoor School


Outdoor school
-       Our outdoor school field trip is quickly approaching.  We will be attending Outdoor School from October 15 – 18th.  If you have not already returned the green permission form, please return by Friday September 27, 2013.

-       The cost to attend Outdoor School is $215.00.  If you need assistance with the cost of Outdoor School, please talk to Mrs. Leigh as soon as possible.  There are options available to you.

-       This will be my first adventure at Outdoor School as well!  I am very excited to learn in the outdoors!

Welcome!


Hello students, parents, guardians, families, and friends!

Welcome to Grade 6/7!  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and give you an overview of first term in Division 1.

My name is Kim Smith and I will be teaching Division 1 until Mrs. Clark returns from her maternity leave.  I am very excited to join the Westview community and get to know the students and families in Grade 6 and 7. 

To start the school year, Division 1 will be exploring these topics:
-       Math – non-numerical patterning
-       Science – organisms and their environment
-       Language Arts – oral language and developing reading strategies
-       Social Studies – cultural identity
-       Physical Education – basketball
-       French – vocabulary and common phrases
-       Fine Arts – drama and art
-       Health and Career – personal safety

Please remind your child of their responsibility to come prepared to class with gym strip everyday.  Also, Library book exchange will be every Friday.
